LiteLog vs. e-QSS – the comparison for security and facility service providers (2026)
Quality inspection with a checklist, or a complete proof of service from day-to-day operations? We compare e-QSS and LiteLog where it matters on site: checkpoints, guard tours, time tracking, shift planning, client access and integrations.
This article is published by LiteLog. All statements about e-QSS are based on publicly available information and the vendor's own descriptions (as of September 2026). Sources are listed at the end of the page. Details may change; the vendor's own statements are authoritative.
Summary: e-QSS vs. LiteLog
e-QSS is a digital quality assurance software by Neumann & Neumann, developed out of the cleaning industry since 1992 and, according to the vendor, used by more than 400 companies in over 80 countries. Its core is mobile quality inspections with checklists, rating schemes, a ticket system and very broad reporting. Clients and service providers share the same web portal.
LiteLog is an operations and proof-of-service platform for security, cleaning, caretaker and care service providers. Proof is created in daily operations: every check-in, every checkpoint scan and every incident report is evidence. LiteLog checks quality with checklists and inspection reports as forms, defects as tasks and service levels with a fulfilment overview. Shift planning, automation, materials and a client portal through which clients verify the service themselves come on top.
In short: e-QSS is strong when the quality of delivered services is to be evaluated with rating scales, samples and broad reporting. For companies that plan daily deployments, record attendance, check quality by checklist and must prove every guard tour against a target, LiteLog is the better foundation.
When is a quality inspection enough, and when do you need continuous proof?
A client asks two different questions. The first: how good was the service? It is answered by an inspection, meaning a sample, a checklist and a rating. The second: was the service delivered at all, when, by whom and completely? Only proof taken from operations themselves can answer that.
e-QSS is built for the first question: checklist, rating scheme, sample, quality statistics. LiteLog answers both questions from day-to-day operations: checklists and inspection reports as forms, defects as tasks, service levels with a fulfilment overview. In the depth of quality evaluation, meaning rating scales, random inspections and a report designer, e-QSS is ahead. On the question of whether the service was delivered at all and completely, LiteLog is ahead. This comparison shows where the systems overlap and where they solve different tasks.
Quality assurance software vs. operations and proof-of-service platform
Both vendors serve security and facility service providers. The starting point is nevertheless different: e-QSS comes from quality management and describes itself as a "control centre for quality processes, tickets, workflows and measures". LiteLog comes from the job site and models the operation itself: site, shift, checkpoint, check-in.
e-QSS
- Mobile quality inspections with checklists and rating schemes
- Ticket system for defects, recurring and maintenance tickets
- More than 250 evaluations, report designer, BI connection
- One web portal for clients, inspectors and service providers
LiteLog
- Guard tours with checkpoints via NFC, QR and beacon, target vs. actual
- Time tracking, shift planning and deployment planning in one system
- Incident reports, forms and automation with freely combinable rules
- Client portal through which the client verifies the service
| e-QSS | LiteLog | |
|---|---|---|
| Self-description | "Software for digital quality assurance", industry-agnostic, focus on facility management | Operations and proof-of-service platform for security, cleaning, caretaker and care services |
| Who operates the system | Quality inspectors, clients and service providers with role-based access | Site managers, dispatchers and field staff; clients through the client portal |
| Starting point | Inspecting the delivered service | Delivering the service itself, with checklist inspection in the same place |
Anyone who needs an inspection and audit logic across several service providers will find it mature in e-QSS. Anyone who has to run their own operation, check quality by checklist and prove every delivered service will find that at the core of LiteLog rather than as an extension.
How does the software model the operation?
A service provider thinks in clients, sites and deployments. The software has to model that chain, otherwise workarounds appear: sites as projects, guard tours as task lists, shifts as calendar entries.
| e-QSS | LiteLog | |
|---|---|---|
| Base unit | Checklist and check per unit, digital room book | Site with geofence, checkpoints, shifts and tasks |
| Defining the scope | Checklists loaded centrally, importable via Excel template; check suggestion by random generator | Tour template per site with checkpoint order, time window and recurrence; areas (floor, zone) per site |
| Several sites in one trip | Not documented as a dedicated function | Routes: several sites as one planned trip with arrival, tolerance and stop log |
| Several companies in one account | Multi-tenant web portal, any number of clients and service providers can be authorised | One account = one company; subcontractors with their own access from the Standard plan, no multi-company management |
A security company serves 12 sites with 4 checkpoints each and walks one tour per site per night. That is 48 scans per night and roughly 1,440 scans per month, each checked against a target per site. In LiteLog this yields a coverage report per site and a PDF per client. In the logic of e-QSS the inspection comes first: an inspector works through a checklist per site and rates the result. Both approaches make sense, but they answer different questions.
Multi-tenancy is a genuine strength of e-QSS, especially for clients who manage several service providers. LiteLog instead models the operational chain of site, deployment, checkpoint and route without workarounds.
How do you prove that someone was there?
Without proof on site, every log is just a claim. What matters is which capture methods the software offers and whether it works without additional hardware.
| e-QSS | LiteLog | |
|---|---|---|
| Capturing checkpoints | Barcode, QR code, NFC and RFID; the scan function is described as a premium feature requiring the web portal and the ticket system | NFC tag, QR code and Bluetooth beacon; the beacon books automatically on approach |
| Location proof | GPS as a possible extension that makes planned routes traceable | GPS check-in with geofence per site; live position of devices on the map, no GPS history |
| Information at the checkpoint | Additional information can be shown to the employee when a checkpoint is read | Tasks and forms attached to the checkpoint appear on scan, even without an active tour |
| Offline | Inspections fully possible offline, data is stored locally | Scans are stored locally and synchronised automatically once connected |
Both systems prove presence at a checkpoint by scan and work offline. e-QSS additionally lists RFID and barcode. LiteLog also books checkpoints via beacon, meaning without the employee holding the device to the tag; a beacon is not documented for e-QSS.
Target, actual, time window and missed tours
A guard tour only becomes proof when it is held against a target: which checkpoints were due, in which time window, and what happened when the tour did not take place?
| e-QSS | LiteLog | |
|---|---|---|
| Tour types | Standardised tours and tours with random generator; tickets can be raised directly during an inspection tour | Planned tours (template with time window and recurrence, target/actual) and free tours (spontaneous, actual only) |
| Target/actual with time window | A target/actual comparison per tour with a time window is not documented as a dedicated function; scheduled inspection tickets with escalation messages are documented | Time window per appointment, public holiday rules, drag-and-drop order, version history of the route |
| Missed tour | Escalation messages on delays (ticket system) | Automation triggers "tour missed" and "checkpoint missed", default rule with e-mail pre-configured |
| Evaluation | Check statistics, quality trend, top 10 defects | Coverage report as a matrix per site and day, logs with map and timeline, scan history |
| Traceability | Tamper-proof documentation according to the vendor | Documentation according to ALCOA+: corrections create new entries with a mandatory reason; dedicated audit trail as an add-on |
- A missed night tour is only noticed at the next inspection, not the same night.
- In disputes with the client there is no evidence of which checkpoint was due when.
- Coverage per site can only be reconstructed from individual logs.
- Every planned tour has a time window; if it is missed, supervision is notified.
- The coverage report shows per site and day which checkpoints were scanned.
- The log per tour carries map, timeline and PDF export for the client.
The random generator in e-QSS is a real advantage for unannounced inspections that LiteLog does not have. For the daily proof that a planned tour was walked, the target/actual logic of LiteLog is the more direct answer.
Checklist, rating and reporting
This is home turf for e-QSS. Anyone who wants to rate services against a specification, manage complaints and analyse quality trends should read this section closely.
| e-QSS | LiteLog | |
|---|---|---|
| Checklists | Loaded centrally, importable via Excel template, individual specification, explanatory images and videos per item | Form templates in the editor: blank, from an AI description, from PDF or Excel/CSV; site and employee fields pre-filled |
| Proof of service | Quality trend and check statistics per site | Service level agreements with fulfilment overview per site (from the Premium plan), coverage report per site and day |
| Rating schemes | yes/partly/no, school grades, points, smileys, multiple ratings | Form fields freely definable; a quality rating scheme with grades or points is not a dedicated function |
| Random sampling | Check suggestion by random principle | Not included |
| Reporting | More than 250 evaluations, report designer, master evaluations, automatic dispatch to a distribution list, BI connection | Report templates from building blocks (cover, KPIs, table, map, text, signature), dispatch subscriptions, KPI dashboard; no BI connection |
| Complaints | Complaint management, software registered under DIN 13549 | Incident reports with category and severity, ticket QR for clients; no complaint module under DIN 13549 |
| Customer surveys | Dedicated module | Not included |
| Photo, signature, voice | Defects with description and photos, multi-select from the gallery; signature not documented | Photo upload, signature field, carry-over of defects from previous logs; voice memo with transcription and AI classification (opt-in) |
In the depth of quality evaluation, e-QSS is ahead: rating scales, random inspections, complaint management and a report designer with more than 250 evaluations are core functions there. LiteLog checks quality by checklist and inspection report, manages defects as tasks and measures service levels, but does not replace a fully developed QA reporting suite with rating scales.
Recording attendance and planning deployments
For service providers, attendance and planning are not a side issue: the client pays for hours, the collective agreement demands evidence, and dispatch needs to know who is where and when.
| e-QSS | LiteLog | |
|---|---|---|
| Status in the product | Time tracking is described as an optional extension ("please ask us about it") | Core module in every plan |
| Capture methods | Mobile, stationary, QR code, NFC, by phone, PIN-protected, travel times | NFC, QR code, GPS with geofence, manual in the portal, kiosk tablet, Telegram and WhatsApp |
| Live status | Attendance status visible live online; warnings on late or missing start/end messages | Live view of everyone present, evacuation list; automation triggers for missing check-in and check-out |
| Shift planning | Not described in the public product documentation (as of 09/2026) | Roster matrix with demand per site and day, series, templates, Excel import; staffing suggestion from the Standard plan |
| Plan vs. actual | Not documented as a dedicated function | Plan and difference columns per entry, confirmation of completed entries with audit |
| Export | Evaluations and Excel export per day, week, month, quarter or year; interfaces to payroll possible | CSV export; no payroll, export for external systems |
Both systems record times via QR and NFC. The difference is the role in the product: in e-QSS, time tracking is an extension on request and shift planning is not documented. In LiteLog, time tracking, shift planning and plan/actual comparison are the core. Neither system does payroll.
From defect to action
A defect found is only worth something if it becomes a task, someone is responsible, and completion is documented.
| e-QSS | LiteLog | |
|---|---|---|
| Reporting | Tickets from the check, via QR code at the service point, TicketApp included for all users | Incident reports from app and portal, ticket QR poster per site without login, reports from the client portal |
| Forwarding | Automatic forwarding to responsible areas per inspection item; definable escalation messages | Automation with 50 triggers, conditions and 10 actions (e-mail, push, SMS, call, create and assign task), delay and escalation chain |
| Recurring | Recurring and maintenance tickets with planning function | Task series with recurrence rules, public holiday rules |
| Proof of completion | Completion with timestamp and photo evidence, success message to the client | Completion with photo, comment and timestamp; change log with mandatory reason |
| Templates | Not documented | 41 prepared rules in every account, 14 rule templates, rule draft by AI from a text description |
Both systems lead from defect to action. e-QSS ties this closely to the inspection item, LiteLog to freely combinable rules that also cover time tracking, guard tours and welfare checks.
Proof to the outside
The client does not want to have to call. They want to see what happened and receive a report that holds up in court or in a tender.
| e-QSS | LiteLog | |
|---|---|---|
| Access | Multi-tenant web portal / client portal with role-based access for clients | Client portal with own login and seven individually enabled modules: guard tours, incidents, tickets, materials, reports & forms, client orders, attendance proof |
| Attendance proof | Not documented as a dedicated client module | The client sees start, end, duration and the verdict against the requirements per visit; employees pseudonymised |
| Reports | Standard reports by e-mail, automatic dispatch to a distribution list, report designer | Report templates, dispatch subscriptions per site, PDF export of logs and reports |
| Return channel | The client receives success messages directly | Client tickets arrive as tasks; ticket QR without login |
The e-QSS client portal is tailored to inspection results and multi-tenant. The LiteLog client portal shows the client the operation itself, down to the individual cleaning visit with a target/actual verdict.
One vertical or several in the same account?
Many service providers offer more than one service: security and reception, cleaning and caretaking. The software should carry that in the same account, with staff from many nations.
| e-QSS | LiteLog | |
|---|---|---|
| Industries | Industry-agnostic, focus on facility management; named among others: cleaning, caretaker services, hospitality, care, clinics, security services | Security, facility, cleaning, caretaker services, care, education and hospitality in the same account |
| Reach | According to the vendor, more than 400 companies and over 80 countries | Focus on the DACH region; portal, apps and manual in 14 languages |
| App languages | 9 languages in the App Store listing; multilingual input and evaluation on request | 14 languages, switchable per person in the profile |
| Platforms | iOS, Android, web portal as a web application | iOS, Android, web portal |
In market presence and international reach, e-QSS is clearly ahead. In language coverage within the app, LiteLog is broader.
Hosting, availability, API
In tenders, server location, availability and the question of whether the system connects to ERP, payroll and client systems count.
| e-QSS | LiteLog | |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting | Servers of Neumann & Neumann; operated in Microsoft Azure data centres located in Germany, data centre certified among others under ISO 27001 | Server location Germany (Frankfurt), EU cloud infrastructure |
| Availability | According to the terms (as of 08/2023) 95% at the handover point | 99.9% planned availability with automated backups and monitoring |
| Data protection | GDPR-compliant according to the vendor; data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR according to the terms | GDPR-compliant with retention and deletion concepts; AI processing bound to the EU, opt-in per tenant; two-factor sign-in and sign-in with Microsoft in every plan |
| Certificates | Company certified under DIN EN ISO 9001; software registered under DIN 13549 | No certification stated; documentation according to ALCOA+, not a validated GxP system |
| Integrations | Interfaces to payroll and ERP possible, to be agreed separately according to the terms; a public programming interface is not documented | Public REST API v1 from the Standard plan (sites, tasks, incidents, form responses); no webhooks, no OAuth2 |
| Telegram / WhatsApp | Not documented | Time tracking and tour start via Telegram and WhatsApp |
e-QSS states certifications that LiteLog does not have. LiteLog offers a documented REST API that can be used without a separate agreement, albeit without webhooks.
How does the system get into the business?
Onboarding decides success or failure more often than the feature set. We deliberately do not quote prices here; both vendors publish pricing pages.
| e-QSS | LiteLog | |
|---|---|---|
| Trying it out | "Test for free" leads to the contact form or an online presentation; no trial duration is stated | 14-day trial with the full Premium scope, self-service start without an appointment |
| Onboarding | Joint workshop, support from IT specialists; admin training recommended, training to be agreed separately according to the terms | Setup assistant per site, manual in 14 languages, demo on request |
| Licence basis | Licence per mobile device, tiered by quantity; one device can be used by several inspectors | Plan plus seats per person; API access does not occupy a seat |
| Term | According to the terms indefinite, cancellation with four weeks' notice to month end, payment semi-annually in advance | Monthly or annually, self-service checkout |
| Pricing page | qmsoftware-e-qss.com/angebot | litelog.de/en/pricing |
e-QSS relies on guided onboarding with workshop and training, which makes sense for complex checklists. LiteLog relies on self-service: create an account, set up the first site, try everything during the trial.

Which software fits your business?
e-QSS
e-QSS is a mature quality assurance software with more than 30 years of industry history. Checklists, rating schemes, random inspections, complaint management under DIN 13549 and reporting with more than 250 evaluations are core functions there. Clients who inspect several service providers, or service providers who need robust QA reporting towards hospitals, airports or municipalities, are well served.
For the daily management of a service provider you will often need additional systems: shift planning is not documented, time tracking is an extension on request, and integrations are agreed separately.
LiteLog
LiteLog is the platform for the operation itself: guard tours against a target, time tracking with plan/actual, shift planning, checklists and inspection reports as forms, defects as tasks, service levels with a fulfilment overview, automation, materials and a client portal through which the client verifies the service. Proof is created as a by-product because the work happens in the system.
Its limit is the depth of quality evaluation: there are no rating scales with grades or points, no random inspections, no customer surveys, no report designer with BI connection and no stated certification.
A realistic setup: the service provider manages deployments, guard tours and times in LiteLog and hands the proof to the client via the client portal or as a PDF. The client inspects the quality of the service in parallel with e-QSS. There is no documented interface between the two systems; exchange runs via exports.
